If it wasn't for Everton leaving Anfield in a dispute over rent in 1892, and club chairman John Houlding who stayed behind along with a handful of supporters and just a few first-team players Liverpool Football Club would probably never have happend. With a true grit belief that football should continue at the ground and the ambition to have this realised John Houlding formed a new club from absolutely nothing and chose the name; which is one of the biggest clubs in the world today - Liverpool and boy what a dream it was.
Another major date for Liverpool was December 1959 when Huddersfiled boss Bill Shankly would be taking over as manager from Phil Taylor.
Bill Shankly: My idea was to build Liverpool into a bastion of invincibility. Napoleon had that idea and he conquered the bloody world! And that's what I wanted. For Liverpool to be untouchable. My idea was to build Liverpool up and up and up until eventually everyone would have to submit and give in. Bill Shankly took the club to their first FA cup win in 1965
